8 Types of PPE to Keep You Safe at Work
Posted: 23rd November 2020

PPE at work is important in order to provide adequate protection to staff. This ensures that workers are protected, significantly decreasing the risk of illness and injury and helping to avoid liability issues.

#1 Eye Protection

The eyes are one of the most complex and fragile parts of our body. Because of this fact there are hundreds of different types of eye protection available on the market, from safety goggles to face visors.

#2 Fall Arrest Equipment

Fall arrest equipment is an essential part of your PPE if you work in an environment where you are at risk of falling, particularly if you are exposed to drops of 6 feet or more.

#3 Safety Helmets

Wearing a safety helmet offers protection and can help to prevent head injuries. Safety helmets are an essential part of your PPE if you work in an environment where your head is at risk of impact injury or other hazards such as burns.

#4 Hearing Protection

Hearing protection should be worn whenever there is a possibility of damage to hearing. This includes loud noise or prolonged exposure to noise that cannot be reduced. If noise levels reach over 85 decibels then adequate hearing protection must be provided.

#5 Respiratory Protection

Respiratory protective equipment is an important part of workplace PPE. If your work activities have the potential to result in harmful substances contaminating the air in the form of dust, mist, gas or other fumes, you'll want to make sure that you are suitably protected with the right respiratory equipment.

#6 Safety Gloves

Safety Gloves are designed to protect your hands from injury at work or in other hazardous environments. Safety gloves are a very important factor in preventing workplace injuries, but they should be worn only when it is appropriate for the task that is being performed.

#7 Safety Boots

Safety boots can help to protect your feet from slipping or being crushed by heavy impacts.  Keep your feet feeling safe and secure on the job with safety features such as steel toecaps and slip resistant soles.

#8 Hi-Vis Workwear

High-visibility workwear is a special type of clothing made from fluorescent material with added reflective tape, used to make the wearer more visible to those around them.

At Work & Wear Direct we stock a range of PPE, including items such as safety helmets, gloves, ear defenders, eye protection and high-visibility clothing. All of our PPE products are high quality and are CE marked in accordance with the Personal Protective Equipment Regulations of 2002.
