Protect Your Employees with High-Visibility Workwear

Protect Your Employees with High-Visibility Workwear
Posted: 25th May 2020

High-visibility workwear is an affordable way of protecting your employees and maintaining safety in the workplace. Hi-vis workwear reduces the risk of accidents happening in many different workplaces. Health and Safety regulations also require that those employed in certain industries, must wear hi-visibility workwear whenever it is required.

How to determine when an employee requires high-visibility workwear?

What is the task that they will be performing and where will it take place? There are a few things that can help you to determine if your employee should be wearing high-visibility workwear. Such as:

  • If they are working in or close-by to traffic.
  • If they are working on the railway or near the lineside.
  • If they are working with hazardous materials
  • If they are working in a construction area.

Hazard Protection - Is your employee working in a hazardous environment? Some large warehouses, where forklift trucks are operated, require the use of high-visibility clothing to protect their employees. And, depending on the lighting conditions, they may need full-body hi-vis, to ensure that they are completely visible to any oncoming hazards.

Emergency Services & Situations -  Medical staff and emergency services require high-visibility clothing so that they can be quickly identified in a crowd or emergency situation.

Corporate - High-visibility workwear can also be used to quickly identify authorised personnel on a corporate level too. As well as being used in situations where security can be an issue, it can also help to increase awareness of staff levels at events, providing a visible corporate identity.

Did you know that Work & Wear Direct also provides a personalised workwear service? You can get your business logo printed or embroidered directly on to your high-visibility workwear.

How does high-visibility clothing actually work?

Both fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange high-visibility workwear are coupled with reflective strips to add extra visibility to the clothing. Have you ever wondered how these work? The Sun’s ultraviolet rays react with fluorescent colours which is what makes them appear to glow in the daylight. The glowing effect becomes stronger as the day draws into dusk and in poorer lighting conditions, such as fog. During the night, lights from other sources such as street lights and headlights, bounce off the reflective tape to increase visibility in the dark.

Work and Wear Direct stock a large range of high-visibility clothing from well known brands including Pulsar High-Visibility Workwear and Leo Workwear High-Visibility clothing. Call us on 01702 553698 to find out more.
