The RISQS is the rail’s supplier assurance scheme, the ‘Railway Industry Supplier Qualification Scheme’. The RISQS provides assurance for buyers such as Transport for London and Network Rail to do business with verified suppliers, providing a safe and cost-effective market for the railway industry.
In short, the RISQS help suppliers sell to the rail industry by providing an open and transparent way for them to be recognised as a capable provider of their products or services. They are the industries governing body of the supply and manufacturer of PPE, clothing and equipment to the rail industry.
RISQS buyers use the scheme as part of their supplier assurance during both the initial process and throughout the ongoing monitoring of any existing supplier relationships.
The RISQS allows buyers such as Network Rail and Transport for London to search for suitable companies relevant to their requirements. They can also further refine the results to create a shortlist of suppliers, and use the scheme’s ‘Shortlisted Supplier Questions’ feature to ask project-specific questions to the suppliers on that shortlist.
Buyers also use the system to assist them as part of their compliance with EU procurement regulations.
The RISQS benefits suppliers by offering a foundation for continuous industry improvement and a collaborative, supportive approach to maintaining assurance and standards using RISQS workflow tools.
If a supplier wishes to become a member of RISQS they will be prompted to answer questions about their business and what they wish to offer to the RISQS rail industry buyers.
There are two parts to becoming RISQS verified. First is the questionnaire of products and
services each supplier offers. Second is the RISQS audit which is for those product and service codes deemed to be high risk.
